X – I’m not as honest as I’d like to be, nor am I as good at assimilating my online personality with my offline personality. Weird, though, how both personalities feel like they each have more ‘real’ aspects than the other at different times.

All too often things and people are not necessarily ‘fake’ but they appear different than they really are, or there is more than you get to see.

It is like the ocean, once you dive under the surface there is suddenly this entire world that was hidden from above.

After reading my previous post, I think that I need to clarify my statement, "There is nothing wrong with pretending to be something that you’re not as long as it’s not deceptive." as it sounds contradictory. What I mean is that you shouldn’t be deceptive about your past, history or present situation, but you can try on different roles, state of being, as long as you’re sincere. Sincerity breeds trust, and trust is the most important part of any relationship.

What I appreciate about your journal, Kim, is that I believe that you are honest with your readers, regardless of how much you’re willing to divulge about your life.

Keep it real Kim, but I know you will.

I agree with you that essentially people are always real regardless of how fake they are because their actions and behavior are the result of who they really are. There is nothing wrong with pretending to be something that you’re not as long as it’s not deceptive. For instance, there is nothing wrong with someone holding their head up high and pretending to be strong in the hopes that one day they will be. You can’t actualize a state of being unless you practice and experience it.

On an off topic note: Kim, it’s true you do look different in every picture. Although you’re always kawaii.
