A certain Nostalgia

I notice that whenever I listen to songs, there is always a certain memory, or connection to some incident to go along with the song. Some are tied to incidents/people/memories are tied stronger to certain songs… Which, I suppose make them sweeter to listen to. Listening to them brings back not only memories, but a barrage of the senses, touch, sight, even smell… Songs that bring me such feelings and memories are…

Simply IrresistableGinuwine: Working with Ashish last year at Actuate. I can distinctly feel him next to me in our little cubicle. I remember him sitting there, talking to me, keeping me company and teaching me about cars.

Perfect ManDestiny’s Child: This song reminds me of last summer in general. Particularly of a certain time in August when I went to a play for English… Got there too early and had to wait for the show to begin. I was bored so I called a couple of my friends… And at the time the lyrics to this song were up on my away message. He read them to me laughingly… And I blushed. This song reminds me of last summer, cool breezes and Shakespeare in the Park.

Swear it All Over AgainWestlife: Arjel sang this to me last year about a week after Comic Con. This was the first time I’d ever been sung to… He has such a nice voice. It made me feel good. Funny, he just sang it to me again a few days ago… To cheer me up. He’s been one of my supportive friends throughout this year. This song will forever remind me of him. [BTW! Congrats to Arjel for ranking #1 in his college @ UCSD! WOOT WOOT]

Around the WorldDa Pump: Carolyn, Fanime Con 00, Allen Fan. I used to sing this with Carolyn. She did the rap, I did the singing part. One of our first acts when we met Allen fan at Fanime Con was to sing this song to him and his friends. It was funny. Hah. =} Carolyn and I could be so crackheaded at times.

There are so many more, but those are just examples… Almost every song on my playlist [and so many off my playlist] bring back memories. It’s amazing what some sound vibrations can do to your mind.
