The old days:
After pubes, before alcohol.

Everybody talks about how they miss childhood, how much they miss being kids without a care in the world. Me too.

I miss the old days too.

However, lately I’ve been thinking about another life of mine. —
My web life. I started making webpages in
1997 and I started blogging in 1999 — which means I was
about oh… 16 or 17 when I began to chronical my online life.

Needless to say, because there weren’t very many people on the
internet back then — much less people on the internet that were my
age, so I didn’t really have many people to compare myself or emulate
as far as online journals went… And really, there weren’t enough
people on the internet to read what I was writing anyway.

I feel like I lost a bit of my internet childhood because of that.

You see, these days I go on the internet and I am innundated by the
mass of underaged girls blasting their photos, their bad grammer, their
shitty poems, and their crappy “digital art” at me… And I
realize, regardless of how shitty their stuff is, more people see the
crap they spout onto the internet than they ever did when my
shitty stuff first came online.

WHY NOT ME?

*I* want to show you all my shitty “digital art”!

*I* want to regale you with my crappy ass poems! ! !

—————————

…It’s kind of like how you can shit everywhere and
anywhere as a baby, but when you grow up, you learn how to keep
that shit to yourself and deal with it in your private time.

So, for the next few days, I will be writing the
type blogs that I see everywhere and that recently I have not been
able to condescend myself into writing…. Simply because I miss the
old days.

Stay tuned tomorrow for: Kim becomes a teeny-bopper!

What do younger people have today that you wish you had?

im not sure im qualified to answer that question. but supposing i was over 18, i would want a cell phone. It’s just wrong when you see all these 6th graders calling each other after school. just plain wrong.

LOL. You’re amazing. You’re absolutely right though. Kids these days have everything and are getting recognition for it. Cell phones, computers, internet, cars—EVERYTHING! I grew up during the beeper/pager period (along with you) and I didn’t even HAVE one of those. I got my first cell phone my senior year in high school after everyone got their first one in their JUNIOR year. My excuses for getting things cool like that? Either it’s for educational purposes or for emergency purposes–needless to say, it worked. And now.. now? My little brother lives life easy and entertained with all these cool new gadgets. I mean.. we had NINTENDO/DREAMCAST and they have PLAYSTATION/XBOX! LOL!

who cares but we’ll always have this one upper above today’s teen – claiming that beepers were cool back in our day

lol i’ve been writing like a teeny bopper thanks to my students.  oii i remember the days when internet first became available… i was an undergrad at uci and we had to reserve an e-mail account down at oac, and they kept track of the minute usage and the associated cost in pennies. xD

During my adolescent years, girls were gangsters.  They dressed in size 40 Dickie pants, a Ben Davis shirt, and wore Fila sandals or Nike Cortez’s.  Many of them were scary and could kick my ass if I stared at them wrong.  haha.  Nowadays, they look like complete ho-bags and act like females.
Also, in today’s world…every teenage boy actually has a chance to bang their english school teachers…Unheard of back in the day.

The acute afflictions of being old – symptoms include, futile attempts to hold onto the past and the discreet jealousy that derives from their access to modern technology.
What do younger people have today that you wish you had.
Honestly, I can’t think of a thing.

MT_Headed said,

Let’s see, what do kids have these days…..?
A horribly distasteful image of fashion thanks to A&F
A mixed bag of self-consciousness and egotism thanks to MySpace
No sense of financial responsibility and a lack of an ideal economy thanks to file-sharing, movie pirating, and rising gas prices
An extreme case of ADD and obesity thanks to the conglomerate of high tech cell phones, Handheld gaming devices, the internet, video game systems, Krispy Kreme, Cold Stone Creamery, MTV, McDonalds, etc.
Yeah, I guess I should be jealous.
BUT. if there’s one thing I’m absolutely proud to say that I had in my childhood that no other generation had, its this:
SAVED BY THE BELL
