My style:

Or lack of?

I don’t get dressed up very often, but when the urge overwhelms me or
I’m going out, I do like to occasionally partake in the habit of
dressing up. What I find interesting is that when I DO wear the kinds
of clothes that I like, I get a lot of comemnts and stares from
strangers.

You see, I’ve been trying to bring the
japanese-loose sock style to America since I got my first pair of loose
socks at Anime Expo 2000.

I also like to wear leg warmers.

Basically anything that covers my legs with sweater-like material.


What things do you like to wear that are out of fashion?

It doesn’t matter if something is out fo style of not, it just matters if you can work it, and make it look good. You took kneee socks, and made them look cute. Other people (myself for example) couldn’t do that, at all. My best friend, Rachel, does 80% of her shopping at second hand stores and thrift shops, because it’s inexpensive, but also because she can pretty much make any obscure piece of clothing look really cool on her, and she creates a nice vintage look. It basically just depends on your confidence with what you’re wearing, and how YOU look in it, not how it looks in general.

Like Amber, about half of my clothes used to belong to someone else. Old, beat-up, comfortable clothes are what I wear almost everyday… Last time I checked it was definitely out of style. If it comes into style, I think I’ll start wearing tight, hip-hugging jeans and tiny little spaghetti strap shirts and high heels. :-D

When I was in Thailand, I bought some silk-mix shiny shirts in bright colors that frequently get criticized. In Vietnam, I found a patch that says “Fashion Police” that I sewed over the logo that had previously said “YMCA”, and people have no idea what to do in presence of a garment that claims that its wearer is a Fashion Police.I can’t understand people who make big fusses over shoes, especially athletic shoes. I got some Rockports that are so comfortable for everyday use, and are solid for hiking and even mild athletics at the gym, and they last for years.

i like legwarmers – i think they look cool with pumps (you may call them court shoes?pointy shoes?).  I wear these slipper kind of shoes that my friends call granny shoes or hobo shoes.  I was out the other day and this random lady that i was talking to says to me hey i have those shoes… and i thought “ah yay finally someone else!” and then she goes.. but i only wear them at home. and then my friend couldnt stop laughing, lol i felt quite cool.  well you make leg warmers in style! i think id get looks too if i wore em here in hk. WHO cares what ppl think. they can just dress normal and be boring like everyone else. love your porsts! xx elin

i got made fun of for wearing a necktie as a belt, and a blazer for a jacket. low and behold, one year later, that stuff is being sold in ALL the stores. and my blazer was a real suit blazer: gray wool with purple pinstripes, and a purple satin inner lining. you definitely rock the socks!

I love your slouchy socks!!!  You are too cute!  I think everything I wear is out of fashion.  I love moccasins.  Those are my favorite shoes.  I’ve been wearing the exact same style since kindergarten, basically.  Although, I guess moccasins were briefly in style just recently.  Maybe I started a trend?

A fifty gallon plastic garbage bag(preferrably grey, but those tan/black ones will do)with holes cut out at the sides for my arms and one hole at the top for my head.  Then I dillute Elmer’s glue with water, put it in a windex bottle and spray the surface from head to toe, then roll around in multi-colored glitter  After making a nice hat and armbands from balloons, I like to hang out in front of grocery stores and ask for money. 
I wouldn’t be caught dead with leg warmers.  However, if you dare, you could fill them with bread crumbs and tell people you are impersonating a stuffed sausage.  After all, why be predictable?

I like legwarmers and knee socks. My favorite shirt has a kind of Lord of the Rings style going on; it’s orange with flaring sleeves and a slit in the top middle with embroidery around it. It’s quite lovely, but I don’t know if that’s “in style” or not…

During the summers I work at a function called the Renaissance Festival. I also tend to live in the full skirts, corsets, and off the shoulder peasant shirts required as the costume for work there. I look like I fell out of the middle ages.

I wear those little beaded bracelets that you make when you are in 6th grade with your boyfriends name on them. Mine say different sayings or just designs and I make them for my friends and they are personalized. :)
