=====

Hi, my name is Kim, and I’m getting fat.

No really. I’m getting really, really, really fat.

I’m 5’00 and 120 lbs. My BMI is 23.4.

I’ve gained 10 lbs in the last 6 months.

I’ve gained 32 lbs in the last 4 years.

I also have high cholesterol.

Don’t give me that pithy crap about how I used to be overly skinny
and that now I’m a more ‘normal’ weight. All I know is,
regardless of what the charts say, that if I continue the way I
eat and live, by the end of this year, I’ll be technically overweight,
and a year from now I will weigh almost twice as much as I did when I
first started college.– which is really disgusting to me.

This morning I looked in the mirror at myself and noticed I have a
double chin — which is something I never thought I would have in my
entire life. Where did it come from? How long has it been
there? I’m not sure…

But I know how I got here. I got here by eating 3 mcdonalds
sandwiches in a meal at once. I got here thinking that 15 chicken
nuggets is a snack. I got here cooking for myself and thinking
“butter makes everything taste better!”

So, this I propose to myself: Fruits for breakfast instead of
hashbrowns. One serving of creamer instead of two in my
coffee. Fruits and vegetables for snacks instead of
chee-tos. Sushi or salads [low dressing] for lunch… and only
one serving size for dinner [instead of three].

I know some guys who say they like girls who can eat — but I
know no one that says they like girls who are clinically overweight or
obese.

——

Oh yeah, and I’ll stop driving to places that are within walking distance… Most of the time.

Underweight me:

~90 lbs [right before starting college]

Desired Weight

~105

Current Weight:

~120

i heard that if you stick out your tongue as an exercise, you can get rid of that double-chin/waddle thingy.  it’s like working that muscle so it stays tight.

3 McDonald’s sandwiches??? that’s impressive. i can barely finish one before getting disguisted with myself for my lack of self control. but oh those french fries are just calling my name.
no worries. i think i’m over weight as well. just somethings dont look right in the mirror.

I’m glad you realize the folly of your ways.  Guys saying they like girls that eat are just humoring you…it is something they can say to friends as a quirk about you…”ooh she can eat”…but what that comes with is the expectation that she can keep the weight off too.  You never hear some guy lauding his fat girlfriend about how “she can eat”.  You’re teetering on the border of getting overweight.  I’m glad you realize the folly of your ways.

ryc:  french-kissing might work, but i wouldn’t suggest it.  shoving your tongue down the throat of a guy you might like will give the impression that you are a horrible kisser.  But perhaps prolonged good-kissing with someone as attractive as myself would be better.
unfortunately, you’re fat….so i can’t.  hahah. j/k

you and i seem to have similar diet plans.. hahaha.  except, i can’t eat 3 mcdonald’s sandwiches in one meal.  that’s just too much.  but i do eat mcdonald’s about 2x a day… i’m sure it’s going to lead me to obese world soon.. but hey, it’s fast and easy.

What guys are telling you this?
One of the reasons dieting never works is because we are either not motivated, or we find the alternative acceptable.  Whatever the case may be, I think you’ve knocked both items down.  Good luck with it…
Good to see you back…
P.S.  Three McDonald’s sandwiches in one sitting?  I hope you’re talking about their cheeseburgers. ;)

man. i just read this article… where did i read it from.. that said that the bmi chart or whatever is… wrong? don’t worry. just eat carefully now and exercise for a healthy lifestyle–and since you’re grown now.. there should be no way you could get fat. just cause… if you’ve been skinny all your life before… you should be a nice slender size for the rest of your life after!! i don’t know if it’s true.. but just believe me anyway.

i used to have high cholesterol in high school … which made me realize that all of those ham and cheese sammiches for lunch wasn’t the wisest thing to do. At the time I never thought young people could have high cholesterol, but there you have it. It’s ok, at least you know what’s goin on now and you’re making a lifestyle change =) u can do it! I think going to berkeley helped me lower it back to normal — all that damn walking and gross dc food made me pick salad all the time.

That’s astounding – three sandwiches in one sitting! That IS alluring to a guy, although admittedly only if she can keep the weight off. I think the your goals are truly admirable, but I think you should start off with smaller steps first and eliminate a few things one at a time. Completely abolishing all the yummy things you love at once might tempt you to get back into bad habits. For some really horrifying eating capability, look up Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas. 11 pounds of cheesecake in 9 minutes.

i felt the same about a year and a half ago too so i began this insane weight-managing lifestyle type of thing. i completely cut out fastfood which includes mcd’s, burger king, checkers, taco bell, wendys, chick fil-a(except for like 4 times a year or something) and i stopped drinking soda period. then i started to work out regularly and tried to avoid fried food and chose grilled or steamed food instead. i dont enjoy chinese food much to begin with so that wasnt that big of a problem for me but if u like them, then u might wanna stay away from them too. ofcourse once or twie a month, i treat myself to ice cream, yummy desserts that have icecream, brownie, chocolate syrup and everything else fattening beyond belief.. but once ur body gets used to the lifestyle in about 2-4 months, u begin to see the results and u also feel good and learn to control. not to mention, feel better about urself as well.
good luck! i dun think u’re overweight anyway. =)

jiNahhhhh said,

a month in the philippines will surely get u back to ur desired weight. its beautiful there, hot and humid..you’ll sweat most of that water weight off and the rest…you’ll lose because from (1) eating the small portion sizes or (2) sh-t it all out from eating something not completely clean or bad water. hehehe. at least you can stay by the beach and enjoy feeling like a famous person (you’ll have tons of mullah-love the exchange rate)! no seriously. its beautiful there. the people are so tiny its ridiculous! sigh* wish i was there right now.

hey kim random props (although i subscribed a while back)!  i have one of the worst eating habits (fast food, one meal a day, no fruits & veggies, you name it), so reading this entry has been an inspiration to eat healthy.  hope you’ll get back to your ideal figure/weight soon!
about the previous entry: i suppose writers are actors in a way, always expressing themselves through some sort of facade.  can’t really analyze why because i’m not a writer, but yes i’d much rather read something that directly reflects the writer.  that was why i subscribed to you originally .. that and the funny drawings. xD

just my opinion, you should start slow. just look at it as a balance betweeen the calories you take in versus the calories you use up.just start exercising a little bit more, and eating a little less fatty stuff. depending on your body, it might take a month or two for your metobolism to work itself around it’s new equilibrium. then repeat.think of it as working on a program where you compile a module after a few small changes to make sure nothing broke, compared to writing the entire thing before trying to compile it. it’s too big a change, right?btw, did you and lan break up?
