Racist Jokes…
Oh how I love/hate them.

Whenever I hear a racist joke, a part of me is very offended. However, I have to admit, that another part of me also finds the joke really humorous.

I appease the two sides of me by listening to racist jokes, but generally not repeating them… Today is different I guess.

Racist Jokes that I like (but don’t usually repeat ;) ):

What do you call 8 vietnamese guys playing basketball?
Pho on pho!

What do you call a half chinese half mexican baby?

What did the black kid get for christmas?
Your bike!

What’s your stance on racist jokes?

i hate them and i don’t think there funny. i don’t use them. because i don;t hang around a certain group of people–i hang out with asians, indians, african americans, caucasians, latinos all kinds of people and i respect thewm enough to not use racist jokes.

Onigiriman said,

I’m like you. I will laugh because it plays on sterotypes we all recognize, even if we don’t agree with them, but I usually won’t repeat them.

DailyRanting00 said,

Racist JOKES. Key word = jokes. It’s human nature to judge and stereotype, I think it’s important that humans, joke and kid to dissolve these stereotypes.

Ok… I think that racist jokes are good when said in a loving maror because it helps yo build up your stamina for the real world.Like kids who are sheltered and pampered in their life end up not being able to take it when they grow up. I think taht well ment racist jokes make them ready for real racism…

I think racist jokes are funny, I mean, they’re jokes. I mean, I think racist jokes are to mock the stereotyping going on, but if you’re seriously trying to make fun of a race, then it’s not funny.

VortexInfinitum said,

my friends and i crack racists jokes all the time, but only about each other’s races ^^;jokes are meant to be jokes, so i never get too offended, even when some random kid says “ching chong” or something. i just tell them they said something humiliating about themselves ^^i only feel sorry for white folk because they get bashed and called a “racist” for even the slightest misuse of a term or phrase.

shi shi shi.. isn’t this the second racist joke post you’ve had in the past year?  i tend to think most racist jokes are funny, however i am very careful who i share the jokes with as to not offend anyone.  cheers

jimmiwin said,

February 19, 2006 @ 4:16 pm

Yeah they are touchy.  I prefer not to use/say them although once in a while they are funny.  Humor is a great way to hide latent racism. It’s the perfect excuse.  “What c’mon it’s JUST A JOKE”
“How does every black joke start?”
Punchine:  (look left, then right to see if anyone else is listening)
Then you’ll see your audience do it too (look left and right) then back at you still waiting for the punchline.  Look left and right again, and they probably will too.

Cyndilu said,

jokes are funny until somebody becomes offended.  i hate the chinese jokes but japanese ones are funny to me.  but i’m sure a japanese person would feel the opposite.

nuedy said,

February 19, 2006 @ 5:10 pm

what do you call two mexican guys playing basketball against each other?
Juan on Juan!!!
How does every black joke start?  (dramatic pause)  *LOOKS OVER BOTH SHOULDERS*  lol
i think it’s how it’s said.  and who you’re with.  AND who overhears.

Jarris said,

February 19, 2006 @ 5:14 pm

all depends on situations…..sometimes they’re funny when the stereotypes they’re going on are completely messed up….and other times they make you want to hit the person….but how else are we going to get along if we can’t laugh at things sometimes….

meemee925 said,

February 19, 2006 @ 5:47 pm

haha! the first one was kind of mild and i didn’t feel bad laughing at that one. the second one was alright. the last one was just fucked up. it’s funny cuz when people tell racist jokes about their own culture, it’s not bad, but when someone else tells it, it’s like, horribly racist.

I’ve been so brainwashed that I don’t feel right telling or hearing racist jokes.  It doesn’t help either that I’ve taken enough sociology and poli sci classes to come to the conclusion that racist jokes perpetuate the racial status quo.
But I love to make jokes about my own kind, Asians, especially Korean people. :b

the point of a joke is to make people laugh, be it racist, sexist or dirty. i don’t really care. i can piss my pants laughing from hearing a joke about chinese people (if it’s a good one, of course).
why are black people so tall?because they’re negros. (their knee grows)

snowy_court said,

Kevin72 said,

Your first joke is not racist at all, it is absolutely cute and innocent, no hatred at all.I’m still puzzling over the middle joke. The last joke could be considered racist because it involves a negative stereotype. I’m like you, I’ll listen but almost never tell ethnic jokes.

It’s like that episode of family guy when Stewie was going to tell a racist joke about black people but first searched the entire area for one. Then when he was about to tell a joke a black guy appears from the plant next to him. It’s ok as long as it’s about your own race, or if the people around you of that race can take a joke.

Cat_fan said,

It depends on the joke. I’m with you on this one. A lot are funny, if only because it’s stuff we’ve all seen before in real life. But if the joke, or the person who’s telling the joke, is serious or trying to be offensive, that’s where you should draw the line.

Learning first-hand how offensive racist jokes can be in France, I normally don’t encourage them, although they are just “jokes”.. Well, in the spirit of “joking” here are some of my fav French bashers muahah(Q) How are French babies born?(A) With their hands up! (They’re born surrendering)(Q) Why are there no Frenchmen in any star wars movies?(A) Because star wars is set in the future(Q) Why are the French so multilingual?(A) Because they never know who will occupy their country 5 years down the road.Try to type “french military victories” (with the quotes) in the Google search field and click on “I’m Feeling Lucky”.

Racist jokes are funny… as long as the people being fun of are not in the vacinity; that or they have a good sense of humor.  The other caveat is that it shouldn’t be too “crude”… anything too extreme is never funny.
